How To Upload High Quality Pixel Art

Topic: Posting pixel art and animation to instagram  (Read 10088 times)

I've googled and searched the forum but can't seem to find anything even though I'm pretty certain at that place must exist a thread about this somewhere.

I've seen people post pixel art and animations on instagram without losing the quality, how is it washed?
Practise I have to use another program to mail the files, do they have to be exact size or resolution, etc...?

follow these steps:

one: don't use instagram

(slightly unrelated) 2: don't utilize pinterest

iii: profit

this is part bitter memeing, but these platforms are genuinely just kind of terrible for pixel art and fine art in general since they're more than meant for photos and pictures. To get any kind of reasonable quality out of them yous gotta jack upwardly the calibration of your pixels a lot.

I reccomend using something like imgur, it's a far more reliable alternative in my feel despite some occasional weirdness.

Or, if you're after a more pixel-focused imagehost, endeavor pixeljoint. The community'southward about as nerdy for pixels as we are, but the hosting at that place is stellar.

yeah i judge so...i just already take an art instagram where i post my mark and pencil drawings and would like to also show off some pixel stuff from time to time.

Maybe I'll but link my pixeljoint gallery or something.

Notwithstanding, I've seen some good quality pixel posts and cant figure out how on globe they practise that, mine turn into mush X(

Basically, you need to prevent the app from scaling (or filetype converting) your image at all, if possible. This is pretty true in full general for social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) which is terribly optimized for pixel art because they expect people to be uploading .jpg photos.

I believe Instagrams dimensions are 1080x1080px - then make sure your image is that size, and it should theoretically not kill your image quality.

To reach mastery is not to be able to piece of work without thinking; rather information technology is to accept total control of ane's choices.

Scale it up big over 1000px similar Kiana said and I don't even retrieve it matters exactly how much. You practice the aforementioned for animations in Photoshop, but instead of exporting them every bit GIF, you render to video (at the huge 1000px+ size). Personally I haven't had issues with this approach.

One extra affair to know with all this is: when a person browses posts on Instagram, they take a one sec wait, film to the adjacent image, 1 sec wait, flick If something catches their attending you might become 3 or v seconds of their fourth dimension. While you might care well-nigh perfectly abrupt pixels, I guarantee you, nobody else does, including pixel art aficionados (I'm extrapolating a fleck here, but you lot go the betoken). It used to be different in the early days of phones, only now with high density displays, it actually isn't a big deal. The problem is only when beginners post native or barely upscaled sprites and they get upscaled by the platforms into a blurry mess.

Thanks! Will get with that adjacent time. :)

That's also probably right almost clear pixels. Instagram is probably not The Platform for any art stuff really if you lot desire people to actually see what you're doing (I'm working on a proper portfolio at the moment).

Having a proper portfolio would definitely help, adept luck with it! Instagram is actually pretty good for connecting to other artists in my feel, just I recall networking in person is the easiest fashion to gain a following on there aside from bringing in your fanbase from another site. I tend to mostly encounter animators/storyboarders on IG for some reason, and comic artists.

To achieve mastery is not to be able to work without thinking; rather it is to have full control of one'due south choices.

I reccomend Artstation as a expert portfolio website. It's built for it after all, and looks existent slick for it.

Im looking for a good identify to find free pixel art. Dont want to credit anyone and need to use it for commercial apply. Any suggestions?

I advise dying in a fire.

Instagram e'er gets quolity down. Don't really know how it'due south possible to upload expert pixel art there.
